Buffalo Zoo

Buffalo Zoo

The third oldest zoo in our country, urban Buffalo Zoo is 23.5 acres of year-round conservation efforts, education for the masses and unrivaled animal entertainment! This is a treasured retreat for rare inhabitants like the Siberian tiger and Asian elephant. Programs for student groups vary from sleepovers to camps and workshops. Featured creatures might be an Indian rhino, a spotted hyena, the poison dart frog or even a crunchy Brazilian cockroach.

Don’t miss the rainforest exhibit with the overhead viewing area, or the seasonal train! Other exhibits introduce groups of exotic domestic animals, newborns, and zookeepers. The impressive collection of animal residents and over 320 plant species draw around 400,000 thousand visitors a year to this zoo. Founded in 1875, the establishment boasts the title of “Second Largest Tourist Attraction in Western New York” after Niagara Falls.

Their Zootique gift shop lends a hand in a green world by offering biodegradable shopping bags for your souvenirs, while The Beastro concession stands caters to a hungry tour group! The Delta Sonic Heritage Farm was built to enhance young people’s appreciation of the world we live in by arranging opportunities for family-friendly animals to meet their little visitors. This portion of the zoo recreates an 1850s farm and proudly presents heritage species on the Erie Canal.
