Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden

When your student group visits Charlotte, a stop by the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is highly recommended for both education and relaxing enjoyment. The Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is part nature preserve and part showcase for the best of Southern horticulture, with over 110 cultivated acres.

In the course of the visit, the group will see various gardens and the Robert Lee Stowe Visitor Pavilion, manicured themed gardens, the nostalgic Cottage Garden, the fragrant Conifer Garden, and the Stately West Gardens. You will also see the breathtaking Orchid Conservatory which opened in January of 2008, filled with exotic, fragrant orchids from around the world. The Garden Store is stocked with unique items, many of which are hand-crafted by local artisans.

The nostalgic Cottage Garden offers sweet scents that will take you back to grandma’s house with heirloom plants popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Conifer Garden has an eclectic blend of cone-bearing plants which are both wild and ornamental while the Orchid Conservatory is a five-story glass house that is 8,000 square feet filled with orchids and tropical plants. One of the manicured gardens is known as the Four Seasons Garden and throughout the year, guests will see a symphony of colors, shapes, and textures.

No matter where you start, or the nature of your group's mission, a visit to the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is an adventure through the very essence of natural beauty and will inundate the five senses with such inspiring passion that you'll never want to leave.
