Buckman Tavern Tour

WHERE: On Lexington Common at 1 Bedford Street, Boston, MA

WHEN: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WHAT: Historic gathering place during the American Revolution

Boston was extremely pivotal to our fight for independence through the American Revolution. The city is rich with the history of these battles and the tensions that eventually led to them. The Buckman tavern is a prominent Revolutionary War site in Boston. An American militia met at this tavern in 1775 to await British troops. Once the British troops arrived, a single shot was fired at which point the Revolutionary War was on. The Buckman Tavern looks very much as it did that day with the original front door on display complete with a bullet hole from British fire. The tap room with its central chimney and large fireplace will give you a perfect sense of Boston during this historical era. The Buckman Tavern will help you step right inside Revolutionary Boston and the historical days leading to our fight for freedom.
