Harriet Tubman House
WHERE: 566 Columbus Ave., Boston, MA
WHEN: 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
WHAT: Historic Site
The Harriet Tubman House is a historic building in Boston for many reasons. It was designed by one of the few African-American architects at the time and dedicated to a woman with a very prominent role in African-American history. Harriet Tubman was born into slavery but eventually escaped, returned, and led many other slaves to freedom. The Harriet Tubman House is a tribute to her memory and to her passion as it is now a center for adult education, senior activities, and arts and culture. The building is designed with skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows to introduce plenty of natural light. This will greatly enhance your visit as you tour the mural dedicated to the ethnically diverse history of the South End and various tributes to Harriet Tubman herself. The Harriet Tubman House is a beautiful combination of Boston history and culture.
