WHERE: Just north of Pennsylvania Avenue and the National Mall
WHAT: To increase public understanding of law enforcement
This museum is a natural extension of the National Law Enforcement Memorial. While that attraction and this museum’s own Wall of Remembrance each honors heroes past, the National Law Enforcement Museum educates public understanding about the difficult, often dangerous, work of law enforcement officers today. In their many exciting exhibits you can literally walk in an officer’s shoes, exploring the daily activities required and the various units used to accomplish them. The Introductory Theater offers a gripping film that will forever shape your impression of law enforcement, and high-tech time capsules will let you view its amazing role through history. Besides the amazing look at the world of law enforcement through its heroes, their activities, and the tools of their trade, you’ll get to compare these truths to the way that law enforcement is portrayed in the media and popular culture. Your entire understanding of law enforcement is about to change forever.
