WHEN: Open 9 a.m., Closed 5 p.m. weekdays, 6 p.m. on weekends
WHAT: Sea life!
Though Myrtle the giant sea turtle is probably the most famous resident of the New England Aquarium, she’s only one of them. Other exhibits bring you straight into the underwater world of sharks, rays, seals, the strange and mysterious octopus, and more. This is as close to an underwater experience as you can get without actually donning a wet suit. The museum is passionate about education and uses its exhibits to increase each visitor’s understanding of ocean life. The fascinating exhibits include the Giant Ocean Tank, which at the time it was installed was the largest circular salt water tank in the world, and the exciting Simons IMAX Theatre. There the lights and sound give you the experience of truly being in the underwater world. You’ll love the exhibits here and the animals and the education. Plus, you can enjoy them with the added satisfaction of knowing the New England Aquarium is a leader in marine conservation around the world.
