Lake Kissimmee State Park
Lake Kissimmee is in central Florida, and this attraction is part of our Polk County student ecotours.
In 1959, the State of Florida purchased 5,030 acres from the estate of William Zepprer for use as a State Park. An additional 900 acres was purchased in 1997 and added to the Western boundary of the park. Lake Kissimmee State Park is located in Lake Wales, Florida and is managed as a natural habitat. This park features dozens of endangered, threatened, rare or special concern animals. Bring out your student group to explore the park and discover many exciting animals that make their home here. Boating, canoeing and hiking are all very popular activities to enjoy while visiting this breathtaking park. Enjoy a picnic under one of the many pavilions located throughout the park. Equestrians welcome!
