“Could it be that someday God might grant me the privilege of sharing what light He has given me by painting what I feel He has to say about His grace?” This was the question Sam Butcher asked himself at a young age as he was inspired by Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel. Having always had a talent for art Sam drew pictures for family and friends to enjoy even as a child.
After getting saved in his country church, Sam recognized God’s gift of art, which we see in his tear drop precious moments paintings and figurines. He decided he would only use his art to glorify God. Today, over 400,000 visitors every year come to the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, Missouri to see the collection of more than 1,500 pieces of the fine figurines. The grounds around the chapel are manicured and lush with greenery and flower gardens as they are in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. A visit to the Chapel is incomplete without visiting the gift shop as well. There are many pieces of jewelry, paintings, figurines and more that can only be purchased on site at the Chapel.
