Taboga Island
This attraction is part of the itinerary for Panama Ecotours
Taboga Island or the Island of Flowers can be reached by taking the Calypso Ferry which is located at Amador Causeway in Panama City and it is about a 1-hour ride in the beautiful waters off the coast of Panama. There are no cars on Taboga Island, so the air is fresh and you can smell the roses and the ocean breeze. You may expect temperatures will be hot but, no, it is quite pleasant. Climatologists have declared Taboga as Tropical Maritime which means the average daytime temperature is around 83 and 75 at night. The rainforest of Taboga produces incredible flora and fruits. Your group will enjoy the sights and smell of lovely orchids, ferns, creepers, lianas and many more vines and flowers as they are everywhere you look. There are many tasty fruits grown on the island as well. Be sure to enjoy the local treat of a frozen duro, a popsicle made from coconut, soursop or other tropical fruits. During your day trip to Taboga, be sure to visit the quaint colonial plaza where there is a church that is said to be the second oldest in the Western Hemisphere, the beautiful sandy beach and an area of protected rainforest.
