WHAT: Historic battleship
The USS Constitution is the oldest commissioned warship in the world still afloat. It was commissioned by George Washington himself. You may have heard of this ship by its nickname “Old Ironsides.” It got the name because of the way enemy fire seemed to literally bounce off of it during battle. There was even a poem written by this title in its honor. Because of this heroic history, the ship has remained in commission to this day. The crewmembers on board are all active duty sailors in the Navy and the captain an active Navy commander. You’re going to love your tour on this historic ship and the museum nearby. The USS Constitution is a beautiful piece of American history and one way to honor our armed forces today.
