This museum has over 60,000 artifacts from American war history – so many to display in fact, that only a percentage can be shown at once. The museum showcases over 200 years of US war involvement from 1775 to the present day. You’ll see artifacts from the War of 1812, the first and second World Wars, Korea and Vietnam. The Women at War gallery showcases the way roles for women have changed throughout history from nurses and Red Cross workers to full-fledged members of the military. The Axis Powers focuses on the other side of World War II. And Marches Toward Freedom emphasizes African-Americans in the military and the struggle for civil rights in our society. All of this and much more will bring you closer to America’s military legacy and history of war.
