The Virginia Zoo strives to showcase its amazing animals in their natural habitats so you can see them as they would appear in the wild and better understand how to protect and preserve them. You’ll find all of your favorites here and perhaps a few surprises. You’ll see the Eastern bongo for instance with its characteristic stripes and horns true to both males and females. The Virginia zoo is very proud of its African elephants and the snake-like, muscular White-throated monitor. The zoo has giraffes, lions, rhinos, tigers, and Mandrills, one of the largest monkeys in the species. The Virginia Zoo is an exciting educational experience you’re guaranteed to love.
