Battery Park
Battery Park is just one of New York City's beautiful parks. It is located on the southern tip of Manhattan. From it, ferries depart for the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Named for the artillery battery that used to protect the prominent harbor, it is now filled with walk-ways and bike baths, war memorials like Castle Clinton, and a circular sandstone fort built in 1811. You'll also find Hope Garden here, dedicated to AIDS victims, and a sculpture called “The Sphere,” which used to rest in the World Trade Center plaza. An eternal flame exists here to memorialize the victims of 9/11.
