Historic Downtown Branson
WHERE: 120 S. Business 65, Branson, MO
WHEN: Daily
WHAT: Downtown is where Branson got its start around 1888. It’s a shopping and entertainment destination with the full array of an “old time” Main Street, preserved building facades, brick sidewalks and Victorian lamp posts. Historic downtown Branson is located just east of Hwy 65 along the shores of Lake Taneycomo.
Today, Lake Taneycomo is a premier trout-fishing stream that offers visitors the opportunity to spend a relaxing day sightseeing or fishing on the water. In the mid 1920’s the lake earned its reputation as a pristine fishing spot. Downtown Branson has a flavor of America’s old time mercantile district. Its historic railroad depot on Main Street is now home to Branson Scenic Railway, which offers rides through the countryside in authentic 1950’s luxury passenger cars. Also found next to the Historic Downtown Branson is the Landing, a new lifestyle center with over a mile of boardwalk area along Lake Taneycomo. Branson Landing includes many opportunities for shopping with several vendors, dining, and entertainment centered on fountains and the Hilton Promenade Hotel. You may find live music there, a fire show, or any number of exciting activities at different times of the day. Historic Downtown Branson is a great way to spend some of your vacationing time.
