Royal Gorge Route Railroad

Established in 1879 the Royal Gorge Route Railroad combines Colorado history, spectacular scenery, and unique dining options on a leisurely 24-mile roundtrip journey through the breathtaking Royal Gorge. With a choice of six classes of service - Coach, Vista Dome, Gourmet Lunch, Gourmet Dinner, Murder Mystery and Wine Tasting -  the train offers an unforgettable Colorado experience in every price range.

The Royal Gorge Route Railroad offers the best experience of the Royal Gorge on a breathtaking, 2-hour (3 hours for dinner) scenic and historic train ride on the most famous portion of the former Denver & Rio Grande Western train line. All passengers have access to one of the open-air observation cars for the best views of the Royal Gorge.  During the ride F-7 streamlined locomotives follow along the mighty Arkansas River directly under the famous Royal Gorge Bridge.  Stops are made on the famous “Hanging Bridge” for fantastic photo opportunities.  Along the way passengers often spot wildlife such as mule deer, eagles and Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep.
