If someone directs you to “the Village” in New York City, this is where they mean. And make sure you don't pronounce the “w”. This is one of New York City's most famous neighborhoods. It's been through several transformations but is known for its role in several liberal movements. The sophisticated Washington Square Park makes up the heart of Greenwich Village as well as New York University.
