Just west of John Wayne’s birthplace is the Winterset Art Center. The Center displays art work created by local artists, such as paintings, posters, sketches and prints. The visitor will also find art work that honors innovative Americans such as George Washington Carver. The Winterset Art Center in 1854 was a stop on the Underground Railroad.
