WHERE: Chicago’s Downtown Loop
WHEN: Open Monday through Friday
WHAT: Fascinating building, state offices, shopping
The first and most impressive thing you’ll notice about this building is the astounding architecture. The building is rounded and glass-enclosed. It’s part of the famous Chicago Loop, the downtown neighborhood filled with prominent buildings, skyscrapers, and attractions you’ll want to see anyway. And this one offers several reasons you’ll want to step inside. Here, the glass ceiling towers more than 13 floors above the lobby with balconies circling the amazing rotunda. Many State offices are located here, so it’s often referred to simply as the State Building. Its unique architecture is reason enough to stop by, but you’ll also enjoy the three floors devoted to shops and restaurants. There’s even an art gallery, making this unique and beautiful building truly multipurpose.
