Combat Air Museum

Topeka, Kansas

The Combat Air Museum is located at Forbes Field, which has the second longest runway in the state of Kansas. Groups who visit the museum can see aircraft and Army helicopters flying maneuvers in the skies around the museum. Visitors will see 33 aircraft that range from World War I to present day. There is also an impressive diorama, a large display of artifacts, and a gallery of military aviation art to be enjoyed during the tour. The museum houses a number of different exhibits, including many that portray the WWII era. A popular exhibit is the German POW Room where you will see how prisoners of war were kept. See an actual WWII era ambulance and a jeep from the 1950s. This jeep was used during the Korean War and seen on the MASH series. The Navy flight team, the Blue Angels, has one of their jets, called a Tiger, at the museum as well. Spend the afternoon and be sure to stop in the gift shop to buy souvenirs and gifts.
