Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art
Overland Park, Kansas
At Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, the building itself is a work of art. It was designed by Kyu Sung Woo with minimalist philosophy, and native Kansas limestone was used in its construction. The museum has two levels that house nine large galleries for their temporary exhibitions as well as the permanent collection. Furthermore, the museum has a 200-seat auditorium, an eatery called Café Tempo, classrooms, a Museum Store, a New Media Gallery, art work, and storage space.
The museum is located on the Johnson County Community College campus and is home to the largest contemporary art museum in the four-state region. The Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art hosts major exhibitions of internationally, nationally and regionally renowned artists such as Marti and Tony Oppenheimer and the Oppenheimer Brothers Foundation, Grant Kenner and Dale Eldred, to name just a few. Educational classes and workshops are available with prior notice. Visitors come to enjoy viewing the works of art, and student groups can learn about the process as well.
