Topeka Zoo

This zoo may be smaller than some, but it is full of fun, interesting and educational opportunities for your group. Once inside you will find the Tropical Rain Forest, Lion's Pride, Security Benefit's Children's Zoo, Discovering Apes and Hill's Black Bear Woods. The winding walkway will take the visitor to animals from different lands where they can be seen in their natural habitats.

The Rainforest is inside a dome building inside the zoo where the visitor will see free-ranging mammals, birds and reptiles in a habitat that is lush and tropical. Look closely at the ground, the water and the trees as there are five layers in the rainforest and you will see something different in each habitat. There are two Sumatran tigers, three African black leopards and two female lions, each grouping in their own natural habitat. Visitors can walk through a glass tunnel and watch the Gorillas interact with one another in their habitat. There is also a habitat for Bornean Orangutans, which is at tree top level for the visitors when watching the interactions between the zoo animals. Additional animal exhibits that can be seen are the American golden eagles, bald eagles, grant’s zebras, fruit bats, pink flamingos and many more. Enjoy lunch here at Randall P’s and stop in at the gift shop for t–shirts, stuffed toys, games, coffee mugs and more.
