Orange County is world-renowned for its beautiful beaches (the California Riviera) and fascinating wildlife and sea creatures. OC Wildlife & Beach Tour offers two great eco-tours that are not only fun, but educational as well. Their Tide pool Tour and Nature Preserve Tour are offered year-round, and students or adults will learn from a local naturalist about Orange County’s (OC) wonderful sea life and birds, as well as experience OC’s breathtaking ocean views..
The tide pools are a great way to explore many different invertebrates (animals without a backbone), including sea stars, sea anemones, sea urchins, sea hares, hermit crabs and more. Laguna Beach and Newport Beach are great beach areas to explore the tide pools, but remember not to remove any animals, shells or rocks, as they are marine-life protected. On this tour, guests will also have the opportunity to observe seals and sea lions up close as well as wildlife viewing coves.
The Nature Preserve is another great educational tour where guests will be taken to the Pacific Flyway (highway for birds) and see year-round and migrating birds. Charts and binoculars are provided. Guests will also observe seals and sea lions up close on this tour and visit wildlife viewing coves along the California Riviera.
These eco-tours are great for students and are about 4 hours including transportation, educational guide, beverage, snack, photo of a seal or sea lion and a “green sheet” – conservation/environmental guide on how to make a difference.
