Pepin, Wisconsin
From our Laura Ingalls Wilder Literature Theme Tour
Begin your tour at the birthplace of Laura Ingalls Wilder. The “Little House Wayside” is where you can see a replica of Laura’s log cabin. The original log house was built by Charles in 1863 and the place where Laura was born in 1867. Once an area full of trees, Pepin is now home to open prairie. On your tour you could even collect pebbles as Laura did in her first popular book “Little House in the Big Woods” at Lake Pepin. Also in Pepin is a museum that is worth visiting. Come see the log house and learn about the pioneer life Laura and her family experienced.
