Sanborn and Tour the famous Sod House Exhibit

From our Laura Ingalls Wilder Literature Theme Tour

Almost to Walnut grove is a quaint town called Sanborn. Sanborn is the home of the famous Sod House Exhibit, an exhibit that educates visitors about the type of home Laura would have lived in. The lay out of the house is a precise replica of the sod home used by prairie homesteaders. For those who have time and want to experience what is was like on the prairie, at least for one night, you can stay in the sod house and dress in the period clothing. This Sod House has even been on the History Channel where a documentary was filmed in 2000.
