Lincoln Park Zoo
WHERE: In Lincoln Park of course – the north part of Chicago’s lakefront park district
WHEN: Lincoln Park is open 365 days a year with indoor and outdoor activities – there’s not a bad time to visit here, although you can certainly enjoy more of the activities in the warmer months.
WHAT: Animals, charm …and Swan Boats!
Lincoln Park Zoo is one of the oldest in the country and a proud Chicago tradition. That established charm is as compelling as the zoo’s modern efforts to provide one of the best zoological gardens in the country. The park is especially proud of its state-of-the-art project for its African apes and the underwater viewing area for the beautiful polar bears.
Besides the animals you expect, the ones you didn’t know about, and all your favorites, Lincoln Park Zoo has other attractions like its south pond paddle boats and swan boats, the express train, a 4D Virtual Safari Simulator and audio safari tour. One more thing that makes this such a great attraction for student tours – the cost. You’ll pay for food and snacks, souvenirs if you want them, and some of the extra attractions like the 4D adventure. But getting in the door at Lincoln Park Zoo is always and completely free.
*Note: When visiting the zoo, check out the Lincoln Park Conservatory as well with fish and breathtaking gardens! Also free!
