Cameron Park ZooCameron Park Zoo

Student tour groups will see how wildlife not only survives, but flourishes in this lush environment. Enveloped in one of the largest municipal parks in the country and adjacent to the scenic Brazos River, this award winning 52-acre natural habitat zoo demonstrates an understanding of wildlife habits, species preservation and conservation.

Meander through lush landscapes and natural habitat displays featuring animals from Africa, Asia, South America, North America, and Madagascar. An 1880s Texas ranch house serves as an education facility. A state of the art Herpetarium houses more than 50 species of reptiles, amphibians, and fish from around the world. Lemur Island is home to three species of Lemurs including the Sclater's black lemur, a critically endangered species that is held in only 14 institutions worldwide. The Brazos River Country exhibit follows the footsteps of early Spanish explorers in search of the seven cities of gold as they journeyed from the Gulf of Mexico to the Caprock Regions of West Texas. The new Asian Forest Exhibit features orangutans, Sumatran tigers and Komodo dragons.

Guided student tours are available for grades 2 and up. Tour the entire zoo or choose to concentrate on a specific area. Make your tour extra special – ask about behind the scenes educational tours and training demonstrations.
