Mayborn Museum ComplexMayborn Museum Complex

The Mayborn Museum Complex celebrates the natural science and cultural history of Central Texas. The 143,000 square foot building is located on the campus of Baylor University.

The complex offers seventeen hands-on discovery rooms in the Jeanes Discovery Center with themes from vertebrates to transportation and health to sound. Natural history exhibits are located both indoors and outdoors.

Fifteen wood frame buildings, including a church and a one-room schoolhouse, make up the 13-acre Governor Bill & Vara Daniel Historic Village. The village gives visitors an accurate view of life in Texas from the latter part of the 19th century into the early 20th century.

Walk-in dioramas and exploration stations encourage educational tour groups to consider the vastness of the Cretaceous Sea or step inside a tepee or discover what it is like to create a weather broadcast.

The Waco Mammoth Exhibit allows student tour groups to walk on a glass floor looking down on casts of the Columbian mammoth bones showcased just as they were unearthed at the Waco Mammoth Site, just five miles from the Baylor Campus.

Educational tours are tailored to the grade level and topic you choose. All student tours and programs provide the opportunity to touch, explore, and investigate exhibits linked to cultural history and natural science.
