Texas Sports Hall of Fame

At the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, student tour groups will learn about the Texas athletes who have distinguished themselves both on and off the field and arena. In one location, visitors will see the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, Texas High School Football Hall of Fame, Texas Tennis Hall of Fame, and the newest addition – the Southwest Conference gallery.

Inside the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, visitors will engage in an interactive tour of the history of Texas athletics, watch clips of important sports moments in Texas history in the Tom Landry Theater, sing along with the school songs from Texas universities, compare hand and shoe sizes to those of NBA greats, look at the evolution of tennis rackets, see a Heisman Trophy up close, find out what made Texas boxer George Foreman one of the best and see displays of the mascots of the nine Southwest Conference schools.

A 2009 addition includes a banquet hall and Health and Fitness Education Center and the Dave Campbell Research Library.

The Texas Sports Hall of Fame has the advantage of using relationships with TSHOF inductees as vehicles to impress upon youth the importance of literacy, sports medicine, cardiovascular health, nutrition, drug awareness and strength and conditioning. The great image, character, integrity, faith, and work ethic displayed by Roger Staubach, Nolan Ryan, Mary Lou Retton, David Robinson, and others are used to demonstrate these traits. The museum also offers age appropriate scavenger hunts for educational tours.
