Jamestown Glass House
Jamestown, Virginia
A great complement to Historic Jamestowne and addition to Williamsburg senior class trips.
At the Jamestown Glass House, you’ll learn still more about the first English settlers. You may realize they were settled in Jamestown by the Virginia Company to make money. Well, one of their first attempts was glassblowing. Although this first attempt and several afterwards were unsuccessful in producing sufficient profit for the company, the Glass House remains a tribute to early life in the New World. It was built over the site of one of the original structures used for the same purpose. The artisans inside dress in colonial costume and produce the glass items much like the colonists would have done it almost 400 years ago. The Jamestown Glass House adds yet another beautiful experience to your greater understanding of America’s history.
