Taverns were the social centers for Colonial communities. At Michie Tavern they’ve prepared all kinds of food, tours, and activities for you to experience colonial life. The tavern still has a working dining room with a large, authentic colonial lunch. But taverns were more than a place to eat and drink. In the upstairs ballroom you can learn a period dance. You’ll learn that the room was sometimes used for school or Sunday worship. Many activities existed in the tavern. You can write with a quill pen, experience the commerce of barter and trade, and even go on a treasure hunt. Throughout the tavern, guides in period clothing will help you experience colonial life and make certain this is an exciting educational tour.
