Located just about 40 minutes away from downtown Virginia Beach, False Cape Bay is one of the most beautiful, untouched pieces of wilderness left in the area! Situated right in between Back Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, this 1-mile wide barrier strip sits on Currituck Banks Peninsula. It covers a whopping 4321 acres of beach, dunes, maritime forest (pine and oak), marsh, wooded swamp, and of course, bay.

While here your group can do several different things, such as the following:

  • Kayak
  • Camp
  • Bike
  • Hike
  • Take part in an interpretive program
  • Explore historic Wash Woods

It should be known before you go that you cannot access the bay by personal vehicle/motorcoach, you can only access it by foot, bike, beach transportation, boat, or the tram. The tram will run April 1st to October 31st, and gives you a bit more time and opportunity for wildlife viewing and exploring in general.
