Myrtle Beach State Park

Over 300 acres of maritime forest, beachside dunes, and sandy parkland await at Myrtle Beach State Park, one of the most popular (and gorgeous) public parks in the area, and perhaps even along the Grand Strand coastline overall!

At this state park, you will find recreational oceanfront activities, an on-site nature center, various campgrounds and cabins, and gorgeous forest land with plenty of trails for hiking, biking, birding, or horse riding. A walk through the live oaks and southern magnolias of the forest will give you glimpses of local wildlife such as bald eagles, neo-tropical birds, and even loggerhead sea turtles closer to the shore.

Along the shore, you can admire the unique dunes or head to the pier for the best surf fishing in the area. Many people also like to geocache around this spot. After exploring the coastline and hiking through the forest head to the Nature Centre for programs or guided tours, or maybe just a look around at the displays, butterfly garden, reptile house, or saltwater aquarium. There are regular programs such as Birds of Prey, Pier Sharks, Grassland Bingo, and Scavenger Hunts, so your group will have plenty of activities to choose from!

*AST Tip: Pack a picnic lunch or dinner and plan an extra hour or so of enjoying the views at the park!
