Southern Literary Trail

Southern Literary Trail

The Southern Literary Trail is America’s only tri-state literary trail ‘connecting mythic places that influenced great novelists and playwrights of the 20th Century’. Linking literary gold mines in Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi, the entire Southern Literary Trail continues the inspiration that lived along this path in the past, some of America’s greatest writers creating classic fiction, nonfiction, and drama pieces all along the way.

Along the trail, your group can explore Oxford Mississippi with William Faulkner, hear all about Harper Lee in Monroeville Alabama, and see the famous Margaret Mitchell house in Atlanta, Georgia. Each state features 10 or more prominent literary figure features, so we are certain you won’t run out of places to stop or literary themes to fit along the trail!

If you happen to be here during Trailfest, the only tri-state literary festival in the U.S with free events, heritage tours, and theatrical performances, then you are in for a true literary treat. This event only happens once every two years but is attended by many each time, and we know your group will absolutely love it. (If your visit does happen to fall during this time we will work with you to extend your stay and enjoy the event).
