Adventure Student Travel would like to invite you to take part in changing the world. We have several volunteer trips to offer young people who want to change the world. Check out the trips below and start making a difference by volunteering abroad.


Work with Lions in South Africa

Project: The Lion Park allows volunteers to work with the animals of South Africa, mainly large cats and preditors. From feeding to playing with the animals the volunteers will help to care and preserve many unique species, including the white lion.

Volunteer work:

  • Feeding
  • Cleaning
  • Exercising
  • Show visitors around (including school groups)
  • General maintenance

Accomodations: Purpose built tents at the park. Electricity and beds. Bathrooms with hot water. Kitchen, oven, and washing machine. Grocery shopping and a mall.

Duration: 2 weeks

Community work with orphans near Cape Town, South Africa

Project: Help children who have been orphaned, neglected, abused, etc. Care for them and help them to find new, happy homes.

Volunteer work:

  • Full care of children

Accomodations: Volunteer house in Fish Hoek. Travel to work by train every day.

Duration: 4-12 weeks

Build homes for underprivileged families in Costa Rica

Project work: With the aide of The Fundación para la Vivienda Rural Costa Rica-Canadá, volunteers travel to rural Costa Rica to help the locals construct houses; houses that are safe and sanitary. They will work with locals, including the family who will be living in the home, during the construction.

Volunteer work:

  • Build septic tanks
  • Lay floors
  • Dig trenches
  • Put on roofs

Accomodations: Stay in local homes

Sea turtle conservation in Costa Rica

Project: Work with conservationists in reseraching and helping to preserve endangered leatherback sea turtles. Study the turtles and save their lives. The time of year will change the location of the turtles and thus the expadition as well.

Volunteer work:

  • Night patrols
  • Clearing beaches
  • Preparing hatcheries
  • Collecting eggs & gathering data

Accomodations: Basic. No running or hot water. Basic food. No electricity. Travel to town on day off to use internet or telephone.

Duration: 1-12 weeks

Build homes in La Esperanza, Honduras

Project: In La Espernaza, Honduras you will have the oppurtunity to build homes and schools where they are needed most. Many of the families in the area live in extreme poverty and your volunteer work will create a fresh start for these people.

  • Volunteer Work:
    Home renovation
  • Brick making (in dry season)
  • Construction and labor

Accomodations: Homestays with a local family.

Duration: 1-24 weeks

Rainforest Conservation in Ecuador

Projects: Living in an ecotourism community, one will help to preserve the local Cloud Forest with its endangered species, and exotic wildlife.

Volunteer work:

Accomodations: Mountain retreat, local food, comfortable accomodations with hot water and a beautiful view. Uses renewable energy.

Favella renovation in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Project: By artistcally renovating public areas in the community, through painting and gardening, volunteers help to bring awareness to the people of Rio de Janeiro about sexaully transmitted diseases and other illnesses in the area. Volunteers will be involved in educational activities, working alongside locals.

Accomodations: Ten minutes from work site in Santa Teresa.

Conservation Work in Moshi, Tanzania

Project: Tanzania has been known for its amazing array of wildlife and the population of Tanzania has long depended on the environment to meet their basic needs. However, deforestation and loss of habitat are desimating this area. On this trip you will raise awareness of environmental issues and will help conserve the Tanzanian wilderness for future generations.

Volunteer Work:

  • Nursery Work - caring for tree seedlings
  • Environmental conservation training
  • Spreading conservation need awareness

Accomodations: Shared volunteer housing in Moshi, Tanzania (4km from project with public transport)

Duration: 2-12 weeks

Conservation on a tropical island in Thailand

Project: Help preserve the natural beauty of Koh Tao, Thailand. Educate locals on environmental preservation, and work in the lovely and picturesque scenery of Koh Tao beaches and forests.

Volunteer Work:

  • Environmental research
  • Surveys beach cleaning
  • Weekly maintenance
  • Educate children
  • Land developement

Accomodations: Shared room of a bungalow on the island. Volunteers will be responsible for their own food.
