Panama Ecotour
Ecotourism is defined as "responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people."
Since Panama is the natural land bridge that connects North and South America it is home to many South American flora and fauna as well as North American and Central American wildlife. Your visit should include a climb up and perhaps camping at Baru Volcano to see the cloud forest habitats and the Barro Colorado wildlife refuge at Lake Gutun where the Smithsonian Scientists have a base. For those who want to experience some tropical water fun go snorkeling along the reefs of San Blas, scuba dive at Mogo Mogo and visit the coral reef and mangrove swamps of Isla Bastimento National Park of Bocas del Toro where the Marine turtles lay their eggs, or ferry out to Taboga Island to visit the rainforest. |
