Levine Museum of the New South

Explore the American South from 1865 to today! Housing the nation’s most comprehensive interpretation of post-Civil War Southern history, Levine Museum of the New South offers a distinct and memorable experience for all ages. According to the New York Times, “It is unlikely that anything resembling the impressive Levine Museum would exist anywhere else.” Visitors will enjoy the award-winning centerpiece exhibit Cotton Fields to Skyscrapers, featuring interactive environments with more than 1,000 artifacts, images, videos, music, oral histories, and hands-on activities illustrating how the South has reinvented itself since the end of the Civil War.

Upstairs galleries host traveling and changing exhibits which take a closer look at New South topics, ranging from civil rights and the struggle towards integration to the South’s recent growth and new cultural diversity.

In addition to the exhibits, Levine Museum offers a variety of ways for student and youth groups to enhance their visit, including customized guided tours, special themed on-site programs, dialogue experiences and more.
