American Swedish Institute

Welcome to the American Swedish Institute, or ASI, Minneapolis' Swedish culture center!

Featuring Swedish historical exhibits, a stately onsite castle, and various cultural classes and workshops, ASI is one of the most culturally enlightening places your group can visit while in the area. Here guests can 'share their experience around themes of culture, migration, the environment, and the arts, informed by the enduring links to Sweden'. This is the place to go to understand Swedish heritage in relation to others!

Visit the permanent collections onsite, the Wallenberg Library and Material Collections, as well as the various temporary exhibits on display during your visit. Next tour the historic Turnblad Mansion, which was completed in 1908 and lived in by the Turnblad family until 1924.

Before you go check to see if there are any language or culture classes, handicraft workshops, festivals or events happening then head to the ASI Museum store to pick up your unique Nordic gifts, jewelry, and arts and crafts. If you get hungry during your visit be sure to stop by FIKA, the award-winning lunch eatery that serves delicious New Nordic Cuisine.
