Anderson Abruzzo Balloon Museum

Anderson Abruzzo Balloon Museum

If there is one thing Albuquerque really knows, it’s hot air balloons! Given the combination of the Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum and its counterpart, the International Balloon Fiesta, this spot is seriously one of the hottest for hot air balloon information and experiences.

The Anderson Abruzzo museum is dedicated to the worldwide history, science, and art of all types of ballooning and other ‘lighter-than-air’ flight. The facility itself is open and airy, with three full floors for your group to explore during your visit. You will learn the history of ballooning in your journey through the museum, plus you will have the chance to ride in the onsite flight simulator or see a film in the Tim Anderson 4D Theater.  The exhibits include such themes as Stories in the Sky and Science in the Sky, plus a whole special set of learning materials and exhibits for Field Trip Groups. The ‘Flying Bus’ visit options teach students bits and pieces of history, folk and visual art, world culture, adventure sports knowledge, and flight and weather patterns.

For your group's convenience, there are sack lunch options, places to eat your own brought lunches, and of course the onsite eatery, the Sky Lounge. There is also the Museum Shoppe, a fun and unique gift shop featuring all things balloon related plus a section of local artist's wares as well.
