Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville, NY is home to more than 300 animals representing over 100 species, offering hands-on encounters just 15 minutes outside Binghamton and minutes off I-88. The park gained worldwide attention as the home of April the Giraffe, whose live-streamed birth became an internet sensation, and it remains a hub for up-close animal experiences.
Visitors can hand-feed giraffes, camels, kangaroos, and hoofstock, while getting a closer look at lions, tigers, Arctic wolves, and an American alligator. Daily keeper talks throughout the park spotlight different animals each hour, from the reticulated giraffe to the snow leopard, giving guests a deeper look at the individual animals and their care.
For an even bigger adventure, the on-site Preserve Safari offers a self-driven, drive-through experience across 100 acres, home to animals like bison, elk, and additional giraffe and rhino encounters. Combo tickets let visitors add the Preserve to their same-day Animal Adventure Park visit at a discounted rate.
The park is fully paved and ADA accessible, with concessions, restrooms, and wheelchair or wagon rentals available on-site, making it a manageable day for families, school groups, and student travelers alike. Animal Adventure Park is ZAA-accredited and USDA-licensed, reflecting the same welfare and safety standards required of accredited zoos and aquariums nationwide.
