APEX Museum

One of the country's leading museums dedicated to telling the story of African American history, Atlanta's APEX Museum is an experience to remember. Founded by former filmmaker Dan Moore, Sr., the APEX Museum was his contribution to the city, telling the story of Sweet Auburn and Atlanta's African American population over several centuries. Wholly interactive and entirely accurate, the APEX Museum is a wonderful attraction for groups of all dynamics and ages.

The exhibits revolve around two permanent collections, namely Africa The Untold Story of Sweet Auburn and Sweet Auburn: Street of Pride. Collections include artifacts from Atlanta's historic Sweet Auburn district, replicated figures showing the horrors of American slavery, personal testimonies, and historical documents, as well as interactive displays telling true stories. You can even board a life-size trolley car from which visitors can watch films such as "The Journey," a trip through the African continent, among others.

The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 am-5 pm, excluding holidays.
