Assiniboine Park Zoo
Assiniboine Park and Zoo is your destination for adventure, discovery and four seasons of family fun.
Welcome to the Assiniboine Park Zoo, the 80-acre Winnipeg wildlife park established in 1904.
Located at the western end of Assiniboine Park, this Canada Association of Zoos and Aquariums-accredited institution features a popular polar bear habitat, an onsite restaurant, a gift shop, and a fun steam train attraction. There are over 170 'furry, feathered, and fabulous' animal species onsite, as well as educational programming for all ages, making this a favorite destination for families, schools, tourists, and animal lovers for over a century now.
During your visit, your group can explore all the various exhibits such as Toucan Ridge, Grasslands and Boreal Forest, Butterfly Garden, Animals of Asia, Stingray Beach, Kingsmen Discovery Center, Mcfeeter's Heavy Horse Centre, or the most popular of all, Journey to Churchill. Journey to Churchill has been called the most comprehensive zoological exhibit of its kind in the world! There are guided walking tours available that allow you to explore this exhibit more closely, allowing you to walk through the Gateway to the Arctic Building and view and learn all about the polar bears inside, and how climate change is affecting their natural habitat. Meet polar bears Baffin and Willow, York, and Star.
Of course, you can also see all your other animal favorites, additional species including the arctic fox, ocelot, dwarf caiman, arctic peregrine falcon, emu, and so much more. Catch a glimpse of all these animals during a Guided Zoo Walking Tour!
There are onsite eateries and concession stands to grab a bite to eat during your visit, and school groups have the option for boxed lunches or catered meals.
