This ballet company is dedicated to preserving and celebrating classical dance while creating and commissioning new innovative works. The company is currently under the artistic direction of Ib Anderson, who was a member of the New York Ballet Company for over a decade. You can see such classic pieces as The Nutcracker and Giselle, as well as more contemporary performances depending on the particular season. The company performs at various major venues in Phoenix such as the Symphony Hall, Orpheum Theatre, and Dorrance Theatre. Please remember to arrive at least 30 minutes early for any performance.
Ballet Arizona is very big into educational and community outreach programs, helping over 35,000 children each year with school and open classes for students, adults, and teens. They also offer dance courses for Parkinson's Disease and Down Syndrome individuals. The School of Ballet Arizona focuses on dance training based on the evolving yet traditional concepts of classical ballet.
