Welcome to Barton Springs Pool, a true treat for Austin visitors and locals alike looking to cool off and have some fun!

Barton Springs Pool is a recreational outdoor swimming pool filled entirely with water from nearby underground natural springs. It is located on Zilker Park grounds and sits within the channel of Barton Creek, utilizing water from Main Barton Spring, the 4th largest in Texas. The pool takes up a space of about 3 acres total, measuring out to be right around 900 feet lengthwise.

Barton Springs maintains a cool 68 degree-Fahrenheit temperature year-round, providing a nice relief from that Austin summertime heat. There are lifeguards on duty regularly, with depths in the springs reaching 0' to 18'.

Be sure to head over to view the Splash! educational exhibit next to the springs to learn more about the history and biology of the spring and aquifer (Edwards Aquifer) that feeds it before you go. You will learn about how there have been over 200 years of swimming enjoyed here, as well as about how this pool is a federally protected habitat as the home to the endangered Barton Springs Salamander.
