Butterfly World

Butterfly World

Located within Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek, Florida, you will find the largest butterfly park in the world, Butterfly World!

Opened in 1988, this is the first park of its kind in the Western Hemisphere, a 'vibrant venue featuring a botanical garden with butterflies and birds', the park a result of 'one man's hobby gone wild'. The man in question is Ronald Boender, who made his hobby a main activity after retirement, establishing the MetaScience Co. Butterfly Farm in 1984. Since then his love for butterflies and the science behind them has only grown, and in turn, so has Butterfly World!

During your visit to this 10-acre park you will see around 20,000 live butterflies within the tropical setting, plus tropical birds such as Lorikeets within the various tropical aviaries onsite. Learn all about the 'miracle of metamorphosis' with your group as expert guides lead you through the entire life cycle, allowing visits to the research lab to see larva and pupa. At any given time you can see up to 50 different species of butterflies within!

Be sure to save time to also see the swinging Tinaladia Bridge, MaCaw Landing, and Butterfly Museum and Live Bug Zoo before you go!
