Chicago Chinatown is one of the most culturally enlightening and educational spots in the entire city for your students to visit, the city within a city located on the South Side near the McCormick Conference Center (Cermak and Wentworth). Within the confines of this neighborhood, you will find ‘exotic foods, affordable gifts and goods, freshly made herbs and teas, and of course, traditional fun’.

Learn all about the culture of this community with the architecture, art, and various museums within, or take an official tour with your group. The tours are very group friendly and will show you the different architecture highlights throughout the park, such as the various sculptures and gorgeous entrance gates. The tour will also teach you about the history of this spot, all beginning with Chinese immigrants working the transcontinental railroad in the late 1800s.

Before you go be sure to try some Dim Sum or roasted pork, visit the grocers, pick up some medicinal remedies, and hit all the gift shops you have time for. You may also want to check out if there are any community festivals going on during your visit, several happening throughout the year.
