'Touch, explore, play'.

That's the motto of the Children's Museum of South Carolina, the highly popular local learning center and fun zone. This museum is filled with interactive exhibits and programs for children, some of the biggest highlights onsite being the Hurricane Simulator, Art Center, and interactive Gem Mining Station. Essentially, this place is a massive 'interactive playground for the mind', a spot in which kids (and adults) can explore and play while learning.

This museum has seen thousands of visitors since opening in 1994, from school and church groups to tourists and guests. Promoting and stimulating self-discovery and opening up a child's awareness of the world around them and how it works, this is by far one of the most insightful spots to see while in town.

Take part in the various activities within the Under Construction House, Imagination Playground, Big Band, USS Kids a Float Ship, Waterworks section, or the South Carolina Fossil Hunt and Dino Dig. Student groups, in particular, should also plan to take advantage of the Discovery Field Study program as well, with a 45-minute educational session followed by a 75-minute museum exploration.

This museum also participates in community festivals and events regularly, if you happen to be here on an event weekend!
