Fremont Troll

Fremont Troll

When it comes to Seattle landmark icons you have the Space Needle and Mount Rainier, of course, as well as the Fremont Troll!

The Fremont Troll is a Fremont neighborhood resident residing underneath Aurora Bridge. The bridge itself was first built in 1932, and ever since then, locals have been reporting sightings of trolls underneath! So in 1990 an actual troll was created, putting the rumors to rest by making it a reality!

Using concrete, steel, and wire, 4 artists by the names of Donna Walter, Ross Whitehead, Steve Badanes, and Will Martin created this behemoth statue, weighing 6.5 tons total. The mixed media statue sits at 18 feet and clutches an actual Volkswagon Beetle in his hand, the car once used as an Elvis memorial.

Be sure to stop by and take a photo with the highly popular 'Troll Under the Bridge'!
