Galveston Naval Museum
Immerse yourself in our National Heritage - Galveston Naval Museum
Welcome to the Galveston Naval Museum, the education center and event venue located within Seawolf Park. This museum allows guests to explore historic WWII vessels and learn all about their history, and the city of Galveston's military history in general.
During your visit, you will be able to see the WWII submarine the USS Cavalla, the USS Stewart, and the remains of the tanker SS Selma. The USS Stewart is one of the only 3 destroyer escorts left in the world, and the SS Selma was the largest ship made of concrete construction. You will, of course, also be able to see the USS Seawolf outside the museum in Seawolf Park. USS Seawolf was the US Navy Sargo-Class submarine that was mistakenly sunk by US Navy forces in 1944 during WWII, quite an interesting story that you can dive deeper into during your visit.
If you happen to be visiting during Memorial Day or Veterans Day you will have the added benefit of being able to be a part of the big annual remembrances held here, and if you are here during the winter months you will be able to see a patriotic light display like no other.
