To date, this magnificent and magical water world has drawn more than eleven million enthusiastic visitors to its exhibits. Housing an impressive mega-menagerie of inhabitants in over ten million gallons of fresh and saltwater, the Georgia Aquarium is one of the top aquariums in the state!
Fabulously designed exhibits such as Sea Monsters Revealed take you into the mystery of the briny deep for a daring, up-close-and-personal look at some of the most elusive and terrifying sea creatures ever encountered. The SunTrust Georgia Explorer gallery, featuring touch pools full of animated sea stars, cool stingrays, lively shrimp, and spiky horseshoe crabs, and several larger habitats play home to a loggerhead turtle and various other fascinating creatures. The fish of Gray's Reef, a pristine National Marine Sanctuary off the Georgia Coast, also introduces you to Northern Right Whales, peaceful behemoths that cruise the local waters, and also the invasive and deadly lionfish that don’t belong in them!
Georgia-Pacific Cold Water Quest braves frigid depths to show you curiosities like weedy sea dragons and Japanese spider crabs and gets you to face time with playful and pale Beluga whales, silly African penguins and spirited southern sea otters. Unbelievable acrylic passageways guide you through the shadowy depths where giant whale sharks and manta rays drift and dine away their days.
Where do hungry visitors go to refuel? Café Aquaria serves up “best in class” local and national favorites, from pizza and pasta, sandwiches and fresh seafood to juicy bacon cheeseburgers with the works. A tempting assortment of delightful house-made desserts sweetly wraps up your Aquarium repast while two wonderful gift shops full of undersea treasures invite you to discover that perfect memento of your visit.
