Guapiles (Limon)

Known as the ‘country’s gateway to the Caribbean Coast and Central Highlands’, the village of Guapiles will warmly welcome your group with several different shopping, eating, and lodging opportunities. This spot is close to many different national parks and ecological reserves, so it is typically always busy with ecotourists looking for a place to rest their heads for the night. The village is just 60 km northeast of San Jose, it being the first major town along Highway 32 from San Jose to Puerto Limon.

Shopping and dining are popular activities here for both tourists and locals, especially on Saturdays during the Agriculture Market. On these days you will be able to sample and feast on some of the country’s finest and freshest produce, a great way to immerse yourself into the culture just a little bit more and interact with the locals. Some popular examples of eateries to choose from include Rancho Roberto's, Rio Dante, Restaurante Pura Vida, and Cacerolas Restaurant.

Guapiles is also considered to be the gateway to Braulio and Tortuguero National Parks, so you will have plenty of options for day trips and eco-exploration. Within the area of Guapiles itself be sure to try the Rainforest Aerial Trams or head to El Zota Biological Field Station, both excellent eco-adventures your group will love!
